Rx Savings Solutions (RxSS) is a confidential program that provides you and your health plan dependents with possible savings on your medications. This service is provided at no extra cost to Blue Cross and Blue Shield of Louisiana and HMO Louisiana, Inc. members who have pharmacy benefits as part of their Blue Cross or HMO Louisiana health plans.

Rx Savings Solutions looks at the medications you take and prepares a drug savings plan for you. When you can get a discount on a drug, Rx Savings Solutions will send you a text or email notification letting you know to log in and view your possible savings.

Rx Savings Solutions is available at no extra cost to Blue Cross members and their dependents who have Express Scripts as the pharmacy benefit manager for their health plan. If you aren’t sure, call the Blue Cross Rx Savings Solutions toll-free help line at 1-844-706-2583 (BLUE), 8 a.m. to 5 p.m., Monday through Friday, except office holidays.

No. Express Scripts is still the pharmacy benefit manager for Blue Cross members. Rx Savings Solutions works with Express Scripts to help members save money on prescription drugs.

Rx Savings Solutions is not the same as your prescription insurance. It is an extra benefit offered to Blue Cross and Blue Shield of Louisiana members to help lower your costs for prescription drugs. We strive to lower your cost at your local pharmacy.

For most prescriptions, members can use any network pharmacy. For specialty medications, members can use a network specialty pharmacy. Members should call the Pharmacy number on their ID cards for more information.

Details of each discount are available on the Rx Savings Solutions dashboard. To access, log in to your account at bcbsla.com. The secure website will walk you through the rest of these steps. There is even a “Dear Prescriber” letter you can give to your doctor, who will be able to see the suggestions that have been made. Rx Savings Solutions will let you know when it finds discounts on your prescriptions, based on your contact preferences.

The discounts Rx Savings Solutions gives you are offered to help you make better decisions about your healthcare. You can use a discount opportunity offered if you and your doctor agree it is a good fit for you. If not, you do not have to use any discount found.

The medications listed on your dashboard are those that you have filled in the past 6 months. Also, the claims information that Rx Savings Solutions receives from Blue Cross and Blue Shield of Louisiana comes at a slight delay. If you have started a new medication, you can wait for the information to be sent to Rx Savings Solutions, or you can use the Search Drug Prices tool on your dashboard.

You can see savings for any minor dependents (under 18 years of age) on your dashboard. Adult dependents (18 years of age and older) will be required to create their own profile, but you can see on your dashboard if they have a discount alert. You can also send them an email directly from the member portal asking them to register.
