How to Use the Android App

Find a Doctor

  1. To select your network, tap on the field to the right of the ID card icon at the top of the Find a Doctor screen, and tap the name of your network.
  2. Your current location is selected as the default. To search by ZIP code or address, tap the Current Location field and enter your information.
  3. By default, you can select with a radius of 5 miles. If you wish to change your radius, tap the 5 mile radius field and select another distance. The greater your radius, the more hospitals will be found.
  4. Select the Specialty or Keyword OR the name of a doctor, hospital or clinic.
  5. Then tap the Search button. You will be taken to a Search Results screen with a list of providers that meet the choices you selected.
  6. On the Search Results screen, you can sort by distance or by name (A to Z) by tapping on the right triangle by the default Sort by Distance label and making your selection.

Save icon
  1. When you see a doctor or provider listed, tap the Save button.
  2. The button will show a yellow star, and the text will read Saved to indicate that the doctor or provider has been saved.

Register for an Account

  1. Run the BCBSLA app from your Android home screen, or tap the menu button on the top left and tap Log In.
  2. Tap on the "Activate Your Account" button underneath the login button.
  3. On the Activate Online Account Services screen, tap on the link that best describes you.
  4. Follow the instructions on the next few screens.

You can obtain a PIN via the registration page by tapping the "Don't have your PIN?" button or by calling customer service at 1-800-821-2753.

My Claims

Search filter iconIf you're on the home screen...

  1. Tap My Claims.
  2. If you're not logged in, enter your username and password.

From any other screen...

  1. Place your finger in the middle of the screen and swipe right to open the navigation menu.
  2. Tap My Claims.
  3. If you're not logged in, enter your username and password.

Once you're logged in...

  1. Tap the Refine button (funnel icon on bottom right of screen) to reveal the search refinements popup window.
  2. From there you can search by date, member or provider. To make a change to any of the search data, tap on any field.
  3. Once refinements have been made, tap the search button at the top right of the screen to refine the search

Save icon
  1. On the claim you wish to save, hit the Save button.
  2. If this is your first time saving a claim or a doctor, you will see a screen that gives you more information about saving a doctor. If you agree, hit the OK button. If you don't agree, hit the Cancel button. If you don't want to see the Save Doctor notification screen again, slide the "Don't show this again" switch and tap Save.
  3. If you choose Show Terms & Conditions, you will see a screen that tells you about the policies of the app.

App Settings

Settings iconThis will return the app to a freshly installed state.

  1. Tap the sprocket icon in the upper right hand corner of the screen.
  2. Tap Settings.
  3. Scroll to the "Data Settings" section, then tap on the reset button next to "Reset All Data."
  4. A pop-up warning will ask if you're sure, then you'll see a confirmation that app data has been reset.

  1. Tap the sprocket icon in the upper right hand corner of the screen.
  2. Tap settings.
  3. Scroll to the "Data Settings" section, then tap the Clear button to the right of "My Saved Claims."

  2. Tap Settings.
  3. Scroll to the "Data Settings" section, then tap the Clear button to the right of "My Saved Doctors.

You may need to refresh app settings if the app begins to behave incorrectly. Choosing this setting will return the app to a freshly installed state without losing your saved doctors or saved claims.

  1. Tap the sprocket icon in the upper right hand corner of the screen.
  2. Scroll to the "Data Settings" section, then tap the Refresh button on the right of Refresh App Settings.

Online Account Issues

Only if you bought an individual plan (you don't have insurance through your employer) and then bought another plan such as Blue Dental. Otherwise, all of your information should be under one contract.

You would need to actively select your different contracts to view Cost and Balance information or Benefits information pertaining to the selected contract.

Then...

  1. Use the contract selector in the middle of the screen to switch between your active contracts.
